Bramsdon Cottage, circa 1898. (left to right) John Burrows, John's uncle Bill Burrows (William Burrows died 1903 aged 83), Fred Burrows, Ellen Burrows (holding grand-daughter Elsie Haffern, born winter 1896-7) and Lionel Burrows.

John Burrows was a farmer (orchard fruit) and is listed in the 1873 Land Owners Register as owning just over one acre at Rodley. A memorial stone to John (d. 1 May 1934 aged 91) and Ellen (d. 14 Mar 1902 aged 55) can be seen today in the churchyard at Westbury on Severn.

My thanks to Mr and Mrs Freeman for the above photograph. I have estimated the date from Elsie's apparent age. I am informed that the two boys pictured are 'Fred' and 'Lionel' who would have been aged about 10 and 14 respectively. Thanks also to Deborah Burrows for additional information.
