Richard and Naomi HAWLEY
of Great Bookham, Surrey
Richard HAWLEY was born around 1789 at Great Bookham.
The surname was spelt either as HAWLEY or HORLEY in different records,
but descendants seem to have settled on HORLEY by Victorian times. Richard married Naomi KITCHENSIDE
on 13 Nov 1814 at Chessington, Surrey. Naomi signed her own name, as can be seen in the register entry below.
They were listed as "both of this parish", but in later censuses they
gave their birthplaces as Bookham and Fetcham, Surrey, respectively.
Naomi was born around 1790-93, but I have not yet found a record of her baptism.
However a Kicha(r)side family did live in Fetcham in the latter part of the 18th century.
Richard Hawley was a sawyer or labourer at Great Bookham in
1841. Later (in the 1851 census), he was living in "Tin Row cottages" (now known as Tinman's Row),
at Downside, Cobham, Surrey.
Children of Richard and Naomi HORLEY:

Naomi Horley was buried in 1854 at Cobham aged 64. Richard Hawley was living with his daughter
at Hargreave Square, Bermondsey in 1861; he died aged approximately 85 in l871.
