James and Ann ABEL
of Gloucestershire
James ABEL(L), an agricultural labourer, was born 23 Feb 1814 and
baptised 20 March 1814 at Duntisbourne Abbots, Gloucestershire,
son of John and Sarah ABEL.
He married
Ann COOK on 18 Feb 1839 at St Mary de Lode, in the city of
Gloucester. Ann came from the nearby hamlet of Brockworth, and according to the 1851 census their first child Emma was born there.
They went on to raise their family at Hucclecote, on the outskirts of Gloucester. The surname is spelt Abell on Ellen's birth cerificate (1846) but many records write it as Abel.
Children of James and Ann ABELL:
Emma ABELL, c. 1839 at Brockworth.
Sarah ABELL, c. 1843
Ellen ABELL, b. 20 Mar 1846; m. John BURROWS 30 Oct 1864; d. 14 Mar 1902.
Elizabeth ABELL, c. 1848
Joseph ABELL, b. Dec 1850
James ABELL, b. Dec 1850
Mary Ann ABELL, c. 1851
Frances ABELL, c. 1855
I believe that Ann ABELL died aged 55 in 1869, James ABELL died aged 63 in 1876.
